Çelik Büşra

Predoctoral fellow

Büşra is interested in biological sciences. After obtaining her Bachelor’s degree at Boğaziçi University in Istanbul, she continued her studies in Belgium and finished a Master’s degree in molecular biology at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). During her studies, she discovered her passion about plant growth and decided further studying on plants. Her master thesis was based on a growth-promoting cytochrome P450 78A in maize and following that she started her PhD project at PSB. Currently, she is focusing on unraveling the enzymatic reaction and transcriptional regulation of this cytochrome P450 78A and working at the automated phenotyping platform Phenovision.

Zhou Mingjian

Predoctoral fellow

Mingjian Zhou obtained his bachelor degree in bioengineering at Jiangsu University of Science and Technology in China. He begins a continuous academic project that involves postgraduate and doctoral study on Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Nanjing agricultural University from September 2020. He focused on the redox-based regulation of hydrogen sulfide and persulfidation and mechanisms of osmotic and drought tolerance in plants. He joined oxidative stress signaling research group of Professor Frank since November 2022 as a joined Ph.D. student and based the topic of “Thiol-Based Protection Mechanisms In Plant Stress Responses: From S-Sulfenylation To Persulfidation”.

Xiao Wei

Postdoctoral fellow

Wei Xiao earned his PhD at ZMBP, University of Tuebingen, Germany, in 2022, supervised by Prof. Laura Ragni. Following that, he completed a one-year postdoctoral position at ZMBP, University of Tuebingen, Germany, supervised by Prof. Laura Ragni. In 2023, he is working as a Postdoctoral fellow in the group of vascular development, explicitly focusing on the vascular redevelopment in Selaginella moellendorffii.

Zhang Yajie

Predoctoral fellow

Yajie embarked on her doctoral research study in the Functional Phosphoproteomics group, following the completion of her master's degree in 2022. Her current project mainly focuses on utilizing structural proteomics approaches to investigate protein structural changes in plants under high temperature stress. Additionally, she integrates phosphoproteomics to identify potential biosensors in plants under high temperature stress conditions.

Wytynck Pieter

Postdoctoral fellow

I studied Bioscience Engineering at the university of Ghent focusing on Cell and Gene Biotechnology. After obtaining my masters, I did a PhD on improving the abiotic stress tolerance in crop species. Subsequently, I worked for 2,5 years at Biogazelle which is a Contract Research Organization (CRO) specializing in DNA- and RNA-based applications to support pharmaceutical research, clinical trials and diagnostic test development. As a scientist I provided scientific guidance to ongoing projects and R&D activities. Currently, I work as a postdoctoral researcher on the use of AI/Machine Learning in plant breeding on the BREEDIT project.
