Verbraeken Lennart

Predoctoral fellow @ Systems Biology of Yield

I obtained my master’s degree in Bioscience engineering in 2014 at Ghent University. I worked on my master's thesis in prof. Kathy Steppe's lab researching the water and carbon relations in a filling wheat ear using portable NMR technology in cooperation with the Forschungszentrum Jülich.
I joined the VIB-UGent Center for Plant Systems Biology in 2015 to start my PhD research on analyzing the growth of maize under drought and developing methods for image-based crop growth analysis using the Phenovision phenotyping platform. I'm shared between the Systems Biology of Yield group of Dirk Inzé and Hilde Nelissen and the Evolutionary Systems Biology group of Steven Maere, to optimally combine their expertise in plant growth and computational analysis, respectively.
