Laurens Pauwels

Laurens Pauwels obtained his PhD in the Alain Goossens group in June 2009. His research focused on the regulation of gene expression by the jasmonate stress hormone in Arabidopsis thaliana and protein-protein interactions involved in the signalling cascade. After a postdoc at the University of California-Davis on ubiquitination, he returned to the Goossens lab introducing genome engineering using the TALEN technology and later CRISPR/Cas9. After successful applications in yeast, Arabidopsis and tomato, he started in 2017 as manager of the Crop Genome Engineering Facility (CGEF).
