PhD fellowship through VLAIO Baekeland

The Bioenergy and Bioaromatics group of the VIB-UGent Center for Plant Systems Biology is looking for an ambitious and highly motivated student who wishes to make a PhD in collaboration with the company LIMAGRAIN.

We offer an opportunity to carry out a 4-year PhD training program through cutting-edge research in an international and collaborative environment. The objective of the doctoral thesis is to improve the forage digestibility of silage maize by dairy cows through CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing of the lignin biosynthetic pathway.

The candidate will apply to the VLAIO Baekeland fund by March 25th 2019. Baekeland mandates support basic research that – if successful – has clear economic objectives and offers added value to the company involved in the project. The program is open to all candidates of any nationality who have a Master degree allowing them to enroll as PhD student in a Flemish university.

If successful, the candidate will start his/her PhD in July 2019.

Interested candidates are requested to send a motivation letter and CV by e-mail to:
