Introduction
livey_introIn recent years, our understanding of the plant cell cycle has greatly expanded. At the molecular level, cell division is regulated by cyclin-dependent kinases (CDK) that ensure that the DNA is replicated with high fidelity and distributed between the two daughter cells. In addition, plants have developed mechanisms that allow them to adjust their cell cycle in response to environmental and internal signals. In our research team, we aim to understand how cell division integrates with cell differentiation. In addition, we try to infer the mechanisms by which plants adjust their cell cycle in response to genotoxic stresses.
 
Mitosis or Endoreduplication
ploidyMitosis, or cell division, involves a duplication of the chromosomes of the mitotic cell, which are subsequently distributed between two daughter cells. Endoreduplication involves chromosomal DNA replication without intervening mitosis or cytokinesis, leading to an increase in the ploidy level.
