The Department of Plant Systems Biology (formerly the Laboratory of Genetics) has an excellent track record in technology transfer.
Three spin-off companies have been founded: Plant Genetic Systems (now Bayer BioScience), CropDesign, and Solucel. Moreover, many service- and research contracts with industry have been established and completed, some of them being at the basis of important traits now being under development by AgBiotech companies.
