| Maize field trial |

Field trial maize approved VIB has received approval from the federal government for a small, three-year field trial with genetically modified maize plants, which have been shown to grow larger and to exhibit a more open plant architecture in the greenhouse. With this field trial VIB wants to contribute to a better understanding of the processes that determine the growth of maize plants. The first goal is to confirm if the altered growth characteristics observed in the greenhouse hold true under normal outdoor conditions. In addition, in the second and third year the maize will be planted at various densities to examine if the plants could also contribute to a higher yield. The tested maize plants are grown for scientific purposes to evaluate new properties. |
