Patents and patent applications

VIB follows an active patenting strategy of technologies with potential commercial value.
The Department of Plant Systems Biology currently retains a patent portfolio of over 20 patents and patent applications, and files approximately five new patent applications every year. The majority of our patent applications are either licensed to different partners, or strategically non-licensed in order to support or set up novel spin-off companies.

We offer the following proprietary licensing opportunities:

WO2009/056597 Insect inhibiting plant serpin mutants Restricted availability for licensing
WO2008/062035 Activators of lateral root formation Restricted availability for licensing
WO2008/052986 Insect inhibition by plant serpin Restricted availability for licensing
WO2008/049729 Non-steroidal brassinosteroid mimetic Restricted availability for licensing
WO2004/081168 A novel class of metacaspases Pending - not licensed
