The Research division 'Bioinformatics and Systems Biology' at the Department of Plant Systems Biology wants to become a center of excellence in both the field of gene and genome annotation and in the field of comparative and evolutionary genomics. More in particular, our interests lie in the development and application of bioinformatics approaches to study the structure and evolution of genes, gene families, genomes and genetic networks. Although our research is focused mainly on the dicotyledonous model plant Arabidopsis thaliana, we also study other plant genomes, as well as the genomes of algae, vertebrates and Bacteria.
